The National Masonry Instructors Association (NMIA) Annual Conference was held July 13-15, 2009 at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Florida. The National Masonry Instructors Association celebrated its 20th year of existence.

Conference was opened by President David Quarker Robert Campbell gave the invocation.
Eugene Johnson did the roll call and gave and overview of the conference and activities for the conference.
9:00 a.m.
Al Herndon showed a video of the Florida Masonry Apprentice on different construction sites and the types of jobs they perform. Showed a film of a Veterans wall that the students built on campus and laid brick pavers with their names in them.
How important the NCCER is in construction today to our students as they travel around the country, how to use the modules he talked about Leadership and group dynamics and Teaching Strategies.

2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Group discussion on Brick Construction.

8:00 – 12:00 p.m.
Kurt Moraver Director, Building with Green he showed a video on revolving building of the future and green building. 80% of the work force in Miami is Hispanics. Sites to visit: www.buildflorida.org and www.mikeroweworks.com
We tour the Banner center trailer and each instructor was given the opportune to demonstrate and use the equipment from the trailer.
